...and out come the moochers

Unions aren't the only ones eager to save the economy, the Manitoba Assoc. of Social Workers/Manitoba Institute of Registered Social Workers are, too.

"Dear MASW/MIRSW members,
This email came to us from the Faculty of Social Work with a request to distribute to our members...

Thank you,

"A group of folks have quickly come together locally to show support for the federal Liberal/NDP Coalition. There is growing support across the country and rallys
[sic] are being planned in several cities...

It is important that we get as many progressive minded folks out to this event. Social workers of course would have a particular interest in the possibilities that a progressive coalition government might offer..."

Mmm, high-paying social work jobs... a strategy to end child poverty... a strategy to end poor conditions among Aboriginals... a Big Three pickup truck in every driveway...

Two summers ago, on TGCTS, while talking about CFS, Marty Gold said that social workers were "overpaid". Maybe it was a slip-up, or it was in the heat of the moment, but it was indeed said.

I didn’t vote so government could appoint government. I thought we all had a say in the matter.

There remains a core question of the cost/value relationship of those who choose to toil in the public sector.

I know of some who are well worth the money but others for reasons of personal effort, intelligence or commitment, absolutely suck.

This issue has been dealt with long ago in the real world but remains a problem in planet Ottawa and planet Broadway.

The bottom line is that it is unfair to both the workers and the slackers. It cries out for change.

I am trying to think of a historical moment when the public rose up about the lack of engagement of the public sector but I am struggling. Perhaps others would help out a bit.

I wish this was repairable without a revolution - OK I would nevertheless accept a revolution

MARTY FOR DICTATOR

Whoops - I don't think I want to go that far just yet

Maybe RG for dictator .....hmmm still not so good

Guess I will crawl back into my hole and wait for a better time and more more munitions
